About Attardo's
Our Story
Attardo's ice cream was founded in 1965 by Salvatore Attardo. Salvatore was born and raised in Sicily, Italy, Salvatore worked in the Cotton Mills, and had a part time job taking out the ice cream vans for his brother in law. Then in 1965, Salvatore decided to buy his own van and Attardo's ice cream was born. Attardo's ice cream has been providing the streets of Wakefield with whippy's delicious Italian ice cream for 59 years. Salvatore's Son Nicolino, was born in 1961 and was always a massive apart of the business with his father, helping out after school, during school holiday's, serving of the ice creams, Nicolino officially began working along side his father from the age of 17 years old, so father and son worked in unison bringing delicious ice cream to the streets of Wakefield. Salvatore retired in 1988, and Nicolino carried on with the family business and has been running Attardo's ice cream ever since. Nick provides a good high standard of hygiene and has been given a 5* rating and is registered with the local council.
Our Philosophy
At Attardo's, we believe that ice cream should be a treat for everyone. That's why we offer a variety of dairy-free, vegan and gluten- free options, as well as traditional whippy ice cream. We offer a large selection of sauces and toppings. We also prioritise sustainability by updating our products to biodegradable products as and when these become available and sourcing our quality ingredients from a reputable market.
